a (1st term) = 8x+4
difference (d)= 2x+7-(6x-2)
= 2x+7-6x+2
= -4x+9
6x-2=a+d
6x-2=8x+4+(-4x+9)
6x-2=8x+4-4x+9
6x-2=4x+13
6x-4x=13+2
2x=15
x=7.5
