Here AP is a tangent to the circle with center O,
We know that, Always the radius is perpendicular to the tangent at the touching point!
=> Angle OAP = 90°, Which means OAP is a Right angled triangle and OP is the Hypotenuse,
Now, According to the Pythagorean Theorem,
x² + (x-1)² = (x+1)², Expanding the terms to get the answer !
=> x² + x² -2x + 1 = x² + 1 + 2x, Adding -x² -1 on both the sides,
=> x² - 2x = 2x,
=> x² -4x = 0, Taking x common,
=> x(x-4) = 0,
=> Either x = 0 or x = 4, But we know that, x can't be 0, Since the side can't be of 0cm,
Therefore the value of x is 4, this is the answer to your question !
