fig.(a)

Since, the figure is a quadrilateral, the sum of interior angles is 360°. Then,

x + 2x + (x+20°) + (180°-120°) = 360°

4x + 200° - 120° = 360°

4x + 80° = 360°

4x = 360° - 80°

x = 280°/4

x = 70°.

fig.(b)

Since, the figure is a pentagon, the sum of interior angles is 540°.Then,

x + 2x + (180°-60°) + (x+50°) + (180°-90°)

4x + 410° - 150° = 540°

4x + 260° = 540°

4x = 540° - 260°

x = 280°/4

x = 70°.

Answer:

1 : 70˚

2 : 70˚

Step-by-step explanation:

Figure 1:

180˚ x 2 = 360˚

180˚ - 120˚ = 60˚

x + 2x + x + 20˚ + 60˚ = 360˚

                    4x + 80˚ = 360˚

                             4x = 280˚

                               x = 70˚

Figure 2:

180˚ x 3 = 540˚

180˚ - 60˚ = 120˚

x + 2x + x + 50˚ + 120˚ + 90˚ = 540˚

                            4x + 260˚ = 540˚

                                        4x = 280˚

                                          x = 70˚
