Given: ∠BAC in a circle with centre 0 is 40∘.

.To find: ∠BOC = (say x∘)

Procedure: ∠BOC = 2 ∠BAC = 2 x 40∘ = 80∘

In △BOC,

=> BO = OC (Radii of the same circle)

=>∠B = ∠C = x

=>x + ∠BOC + x = 180∘ [Sum of angles in a triangle]

=> 2x =180∘ — ∠BOC

=> 2x = 180∘ — 80∘

=>2x = 100∘

2x = 100∘ 

=>x = 50∘.
