in the given figure:-

angle AOC = 180°-90°

=90°[liner pair]

angle AOB + angle BOC = angle AOC

40°+ (6x+2)°= 90°

[AOB and BOC are complimentary angles i.e. their sum = 90°]

40°+6x°+2°=90°

6x°+42°=90°

6x°=90°-42°

6x°=48°

x=48°/6

x=8°
