by pythagorous theorem,

(37cm)² = (12cm)² + (\frac{x}{2}) ^{2}

(1369 cm²) - (144 cm²) = \frac{x}{4} ^{2}

1225cm² = \frac{x}{4} ^{2}

(35 cm)² =(\frac{x}{2}) ^{2}

35 cm = \frac{x}{2}

x = 35 cm × 2 = 70 cm
