Answer :

x = 1/5 , -1/7

Solution :

  • Given equation : 35x² - 2x - 1 = 0
  • To find : x = ?

We have ;

=> 35x² - 2x - 1 = 0

=> 35x² - 7x + 5x - 1 = 0

=> 7x(5x - 1) + (5x - 1) = 0

=> (5x - 1)(7x + 1) = 0

=> Either (5x - 1) = 0 OR (7x + 1) = 0

Case1 : If 5x - 1 = 0

=> 5x - 1 = 0

=> 5x = 1

=> x = 1/5

Case2 : If 7x + 1 = 0

=> 7x + 1 = 0

=> 7x = -1

=> x = -1/7

Hence , x = 1/5 , -1/7 .
