2x + 3y + 1 = 12 -  -  -  -  > 1 \\ x  \:  \:  + 6y + 2 = 18 -  -  -  -  -  > 2

Eq. 1 - Eq. 2 x 2,
 \:  \:  \: 2x + 3y + 1 = 12 \\  - 2x + 12y + 4 = 36 \\  -   \:  \:  \:  \:  \: -   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: -   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: -  \\  -  -  -  -  -  -  -  -  -  -  \\   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: - 9y - 3 =  - 24 \\  =  >  \:  \:   \: - 9y =  - 21 \\  =  > y =  \frac{ - 21}{ - 9} \\  =  > y =  \frac{7}{3}.

Putting this value in eq. 2,
x = 2.

Hope this will help you.
