Given :- find the value of x of the following figures,if line l parallel to one of the sides of the given triangles ?

Solution :-

Image 1) :- Line l is parallel to BC .

we know that,

  • Basic Proportionality Theorem (BPT) = If a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle to intersect the other two sides in distinct points, then the other two sides are divided in the same ratio.

so,

→ AP / PB = AH / YC

→ 3/6 = 5 / x

→ (1/2) = (5/x)

→ x = 5 * 2

→ x = 10 . (Ans.)

Image 2) :- Line l is parallel to TR .

So, again using BPT,

→ x / 4.5 = 1.3 / 3.9

→ (x / 4.5) = 1/3

→ 3x = 4.5

→ x = 1.5 (Ans.)
