Find the value of x so that the point (3,x) lies on the line represented by 2x-3y+5=0

Solution :

The given line is

2x - 3y + 5 = 0 .....(i)

Since the point (3, k) lies on (i),

2 (3) - 3 (k) + 5 = 0

or, 6 - 3k + 5 = 0

or, 3k = 11

or, k = 11/3

∴ the value of k is 11/3.
