The value of x = 3

Given :

x + 2 , 4x - 6 , 3x - 2 are three consecutive terms of an AP

To find :

The value of x

Concept :

If a , b , c are in AP then 2b = a + c

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Write down the given terms

Here it is given that x + 2 , 4x - 6 , 3x - 2 are three consecutive terms of an AP

Step 2 of 2 :

Find the value of x

By the given condition

\displaystyle \sf{  2(4x - 6) = (x + 2) + (3x - 2)}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies 8x - 12 =4x}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies 8x - 4x = 12}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies 4x = 12}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies x = 3}

Hence the required value of x = 3
