Find the value of x when:
a.) in a rectangle, L=3x, B=x and Perimeter = 48 units
b.) in a triangle, each side=x-2 and perimeter = 15 units
c.) in a rectangle, four sides are x-2 , 2x-3 , x-2 , 2x-3 and Perimeter = 8 units

Answer: a) x = 6 units, b) x=7units, c) x=3 units

Step-by-step explanation:

(A) l = 3x and b = x

perimeter = 48 units

Perimeter = 2(l+b)

48 = 2(3x+x)

48 = 2(4x)

48 = 8x

x = 48/8

x = 6 units

(B) Side = x-2

perimeter = 15 units

perimeter = side a + side b + side c

15 units = x-2 + x-2 + x-2

15 = x+x+x-2-2-2

15 = 3x - 6

Adding 6 on both the sides

15+6 = 3x - 6+6

21 = 3x

x = 7 units

(C) sides of rectangle = x-2, 2x-3
perimeter = 8 units

perimeter = 2(l+b)

8 units = 2(x-2 + 2x-3)

8 units = 2(x+2x-2-3)

8 units = 2(3x-5)

8 units = 6x-10

Adding 10 on both the sides

8+10= 6x -10+10

18 = 6x

x = 18/6

x = 3 units

Answer:

a) Here, Perimeter of rectangle = 2(L+B)

48 = 2(3x+x)

48 = 2× 4x

48 = 8x

48/8= x

x = 6

b) here, each side is x-2 therefore it is Equilateral triangle

Perimeter of Equilateral triangle = 3× side

15 = 3 (x-2)

15 = 3x - 6

15+6 = 3x

21/3= x

x = 7

c) L= 2x-3 and B = x-2

perimeter of rectangle = 2(L+B)

8 = 2[(2x-3) +(x-3) ]

8 = 2(2x-3+x-3)

8 = 2(3x-5)

8 = 6x-10

8+10 = 6x

18/6 = x

x = 3
