7x - 2 = 4x + 16. alternate int angle
3x = 18
x = 6

Here is the answer

The given pic attached indicates the same figure..

As given in the question,
L || m { L is parallel to m }

Hence ,
As the lines are parallel,

Angle 1 and Angle 2 are congruent.

Angle 1 = Angle 2.....Alternate angles are congruent.

7x - 2 = 4x + 16
7x - 4x = 16 + 2
3x = 18
x = 18/3
x = 6

Hence ,
The value of x is 6.
