find the value of x+y, if 15x+17y=21 and 17x+15y=11

Let us consider the equations

15X + 17Y = 21……………..(1)

17X + 15Y = 11……………..(2)

Subtracting equation (1) and equation (2) we get

– 2X + 2Y = 10…………….(3)

Taking 2 as a common factor from equation (3)

– X + Y = 5………………….(4)

Multiplying equation (4) by (-), we get

X – Y = -5
