Given : The algebraic expression is x²-2x+1

To find : The value of the given algebraic expression, if the value of x is -1

Solution :

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process. (our goal is to calculate the value of the given algebraic expression)

Here, we will be using algebraic identities, in order to reduce the manual calculations.

So,

= x²-2x+1

= (x)² - (2 × x × 1) + (1)²

= (x - 1)²

= (-1 - 1)² [substituting the value of x]

= (-2)²

= 4

(This will be considered as the final result of the given mathematical problem.)

Used identity :

  • a²-2ab+b² = (a-b)²

Hence, the answer is 4
