Diagonal method for squaring a number-
- The given number (56)^2 contains two digits.So,draw a square and divide it into 4 subsquares.Then, write down the digits 5 and 6, horizontally ane vertically.(as I have done) and for (324)^2 divide it into into 9 subsquares.
- Then multiply each digit on the left of the square with each on the top ,one by one.
- Then starting below the lowest diagonal,sum the digits diagonally. If the sum is a two digit number, underline the units digits and carry over the tens digit to the next diagonal.
- After that, underline all the digits in the sum above the topmost diagonal.
- Then underlined digits give the required square number.
