find the values of A and B so that the polynomial x^4 +ax^3 - 7 x^2 + 8 x + b is exactly divisible by X + 2 as well as x + 3

joshdarnit: is it 8+x+b?
Rehan0917: no

Rehan0917: Multiply the two factors (x+2)(x+3):

(x+2)(x+3)=x2+3x+2x+6

(x+2)(x+3)=x2+5x+6

This multiplies with another trinomial to produce the given quartic polynomial:

(x2+5x+6)(x2+cx+d)=x4+ax3−7x2−8x+b

Multiply each term of the first factor by the second factor:

x2(x2+cx+d)+5x(x2+cx+d)+6(x2+cx+d)=x4+ax
Rehan0917: a=2 and b=12
