QUESTION :

find the values of alpha and beta 2x^-7x-22=0

ANSWER :

 \alpha \: and \: \beta \: are \: the \: \\ zeroes \: of \: the \: polynomial.

TO FIND THE

 \alpha \: and \: \beta

WE have to factorised it:

2 {x}^{2} - 7x - 22 = 0

This equation is in the form of

a {x}^{2} + bx + c = 0

1. WE have to split the middle term in such a way that it's sum equal to b i.e. -7 and product will be a×c.

2 {x}^{2} - 11x + 4x - 22

TAKING common factor

2x(x - 11) + 4(x - 11)

(2x + 4)(x - 11) \: are \: the \: zeroes

FINAL ANSWER :

2x + 4 = 0 \\ 2x = - 4 \\ x = - 2

x - 11 =0 \\ x = 11

so,

 \alpha \: and \: \beta \\ are - 2 \: and \: 11
