Since it has equal roots, therefore

D=0

Also,

D= k^2 - 4×2×3

0= k^2 - 24

k^2 = 24

k= √24

k= 2√6

Answer:

since it is given that they have two equal roots ,

then ,

D = 0

D = b^2 - 4ac ..............(1)

on comparing eq. with general quadratic equation ,

a= 2

b= k

c=3

on putting value in eq. (1)

D=k^2-4×2×3

= k^2 - 24

k^2=24

k= √24

k=26
