a)Firstly, 225° is in quadrant 3, so tan will be positive.

225–180=45°, so tan225°=tan45° (tan is also positive in first quadrant)

tan45°=1

Thus tan225° will also equal 1.

b)tan(840)

= tan [(720 + 120)]

= tan [(2π + 120)

= tan (2π + 120)

= tan (120)

= tan (180 + 60)

= tan 60

\sqrt{3}
