By studying the ones column , we get

N × 5 = N

∴ N × 5 = two - digit no. having ones digit as 5

so , the possible value of N = 5

Taking ⠀⠀⠀⠀N = 5 , we have

M 5 × 5 = L M 5

⇢ ( 10 M + 5 ) × 5 = 100L + 10M + 5

⇢ 10M + 5 = 20L + 2M + 1

⇢ 8M + 4 = 20L

⇢ 2 M + 1 = 5L

2M + 1 is an odd multiple of 5⠀⠀

[ ∵ 2M + 1 is odd]

⇢2M + 1 = 5 , 2M + 1 = 15

⇢M = 2 , M = 7

◈ Substituting M = 2 in ( 1 ) , we get

2 × 2 + 1 = 5L
