Step-by-step explanation:

5x+3y=12 (i)

2x-y= 7 (ii)

from equation (ii) we will take out the value of x,

2x-y = 7

2x = 7+y

x = (7+y)/2

we will substitute this value in equation (i)

5[(7+y)/2] +3y = 12

(35+5y)/2+3y = 12

(35+5y+6y)/2 = 12

35+11y = 24

11y = 24-35 = -11

y = -11/11 => -1

if y = -1 then x =

2x-y=7

2x-(-1)= 7

2x+1=7

2x = 6

x = 6/2 = 3

hope this helps
