$x = \frac{2}{3} \: \: and \: \: y = \frac{5}{9}$

$x - y = \frac{2}{3} - \frac{5}{9} \\ \\ = \frac{6 - 5}{9} \\ \\ = \frac{1}{9}$

$y - x = \frac{5}{9} - \frac{2}{3} \\ \\ = \frac{5 - 6}{9} \\ \\ = \frac{ - 1}{9}$

$\frac{1}{9} ≠ \frac{ - 1}{9}$

So, x - y ≠ y - x
