Find the velocity of efflux of water from an orifice near the bottom of a tank in which pressure is 49000 Pa above the atmosphere

P = 49000 Pa
g = 10 m/s^2

# Solution-
Hydrostatic pressure is given by-
P = ρhg
h = P / ρg
h = 49000 / (1000×10)
h = 4.9 m

Velocity of water runing out through orifice,
v = √(2gh)
v = √(2×10×4.9)
v = √98
v = 9.9 m/s

Therefore, velocity of efflux of water from an orifice is 9.9 m/s.
