n=speed of light in vacuum /speed of light in medium

n=c/v

2.42=3x10^8/speed of light

Speed of light =3x108/2.42

=1.25x108 m/s

Answer:

Explanation:

refractive index of glass with =velocity of light in glass/

       respect to air                         speed of light

1.5 = 2x10^8/speed

speed =  2x10^8/1.5

∴refractive index of diamond with = velocity of light in diamond/

   respect to air                                         speed of light

velocity of light in diamond = refractive index x speed

                                              = 2.5 x 2 x 10^8/

                                                           1.5

                                                  =5x2 x 10^8/

                                                              3

                                                 =3.33 x 10^8 m/s
