Here, mass of girl (m1) = 40 kg
velocity of girl (v1) = 2 m/s
And, mass of cart (m2) = 4 kg
Let the velocity of cart be v2.
According to the law of conservation of momentum,
m1v1 = m2v2
or, 40 kg * 2 m/s = 4 kg*v2
or, 80 kg.m/s = 4kg*v2
or, v2 = (80/4) m/s
or, v2 = 20 m/s.
