Hi there!!

Here's your answer:

Given:
Area of base = 38.5 cm^2

( Area of base of the cylinder is area of circle as shape of base of cylinder is circle)

Area of circle = πr^2 = 38.5 cm ^2
height = 9 cm

To find:
Volume and surface area

Solution:

Volume = πr^2h

= 38.5 × 9

= 346.5

Therefore volume is 346.5 cm^3

For surface area it is necessary to find radius first

volume = πr^2h

346.5 = 22/7 × r^2 × 9

346.5 × 7 / 22 × 9 = r^2

38.5 × 7 / 22 = r^2

1.75 × 7 = r^2

12.25 = r^2

√12.25 = r

3.5 = r

Therefore radius is 3.5 cm

Surface area = 2πr ( r + h )

= 2 × 22/7 × 3.5 ( 3.5 + 9 )

= 2 × 22/7 × 35/10 ( 12.5 )

= 22 × 12.5 ( After cancellation )

= 275 cm^2

Therefore surface area is 274 cm^2

Hope this helps ☺️
