Given,

Length of slab, \[l = 4m\]

Width of slab, \[b = 2m\]

Thickness of slab, \[h = \frac{1}{4}m\]

Solution,

The figure 1 represent the dimension of the slab.

Volume of the slab,

\[\begin{array}{l} = l \times b \times h\\ = 4 \times 2 \times \frac{1}{4}\\ = 2{m^3}\end{array}\]

Surface area a slab,

\[\begin{array}{l} = 2\left( {l \times b + b \times h + h \times l} \right)\\ = 2\left( {4 \times 2 + 2 \times \frac{1}{4} + \frac{1}{4} \times 4} \right)\\ = 2 \times \left( {8 + \frac{1}{2} + 1} \right)\\ = 2 \times \left( {\frac{{19}}{2}} \right)\\ = 19{m^2}\end{array}\]

Hence the volume and surface area of the slab are \[2{m^3}\] and \[19{m^2}\].

Answer:

2 cubic metres

Step-by-step explanation:

v-l×b×h

- 4×2×1/4

= 2m³
