Find the volume of a frustum of a cone with radius of base 10cm, radius of the top 5cm and height 6cm if it has been cut out from a bigger cone of height 15cm

# Given -

R = 10 cm

r = 5 cm

H = 15 cm

h = 15-6 = 9 cm

# Solution -

Volume of smaller cone cut is -

Vs = πr²h/3

Vs = 3.142 × 5² × 9 / 3

Vs = 235.65 cu.cm

Volume of bigger cone is given as -

Vb = πR²H/3

Vb = 3.142 × 10² × 15 / 3

Vb = 1571 cu.cm

Therefore, volume of frustum of cone will be -

V = Vb - Vs

V = 1571 - 235.65

V = 1335 cu.cm
