It can be explained by a simple example. id we stack h no. of paper triangles of area a one over another, we would get a triangular prism with base area a and height h.

therefore, volume = a * h

base area = 1/2*b*h = 1/2*5*5 = 25/2

volume = a * h = 25/2 * 8 = 100 cm³
