Find the weight of a metre scale balanced at 30 cm mark such that two weights one of 30gf and 10gf are suspended at 5 cm mark and 40 cm mark respectively.

Answer :

Balanced at = 30 cm

Weight of a = 30 gf

Weight of b = 10 gf

=> Momentum of force is about = 0

=> 30gf × 25 cm = ( 10 gf ) ( 10 cm ) + w( 20 cm )

=>

w =  \frac{30 \times 25 - 10 \times 10}{20}

w =  \frac{650}{20}

32.5gf
