The weight of the object on the surface of earth would be 5kg. The weight of the object on the surface of moon would be 5/6= 0.83 as the weight of any object on earth is six times than that on moon.

Given - Mass of object

Find - Weight on the surface of the earth and surface of the moon

Solution - The weight of an object on the surface of the earth and the surface of the moon is 50 and 8 Newton respectively.

Weight on any surface can be calculated by the formula - mass*acceleration due to gravity of surface.

Acceleration due to gravity on Earth is 10 m/s².

Acceleration due to gravity on Moon is 1.6 m/s².

Weight on the surface of Earth = 5*10

Weight on the surface of Earth = 50 Newton

Weight on the surface of Moon = 5*1.6

Weight on the surface of Moon = 8 Newton

Thus, the weight of an object on the surface of the earth and the surface of the moon is 50 and 8 Newton respectively.
