Explanation:

2C  & 2C  are in Series  

Hence net of  2C & 2C   =   1/(1/2C  + 1/2C)

= 2C/(1 + 1)

= 2C/2

= C

C & C are now in parallel

Net  = C + C  = 2C  

Work Done   = (1/2) * Capacitance (Voltage)²

= (1/2) (2C) V²

= CV²
