Find the work done when a body of mass 500g moving with a velocity of 20m/s suddenly stops when brakes are applied.

given : the kinetic energy possesed by the body suddenly comes to zero when brakes r applied .

hence we can say that the energy applied by the brake is equal to the KE of the moving body.

mass = 500g or 0.5kg

velocity = 20m/s

Therefore, KE = ½mv²

= ½ × 0.5 × 400

= 100J
