SINCE WE HAVE TWO EQUATION AS

2x+y=12...................................{1}

x-y=9.........................................{2}

form {2} we get,

y=x-9...................................{3}

putting in {1} we get,

2x+x-9=12

3x=12+9

3x=21

x=7

hence the value of x is 7.
