(1) multiplied by 6 we get

$66x-54y=-24$.....(4)

(3) multiplied by 11 we get

$66x-55y=-33$ ....(5)

(4)-(5) we get

$66x-66x-54y+55y=-24+33$

$y=9$....(6)

Putting this in (1) we get

$11x-9 \times 9=-4\\or,\ 11x-81=-4\\ or,\ 11x=77\\ \therefore x=7$
