Answer:

x = 45

y = 45

Step-by-step explanation:

Given, The figure PQRS is a square, this means that the square is divided in half which makes the 2 rectangles equal, if we break the rectangle PQCB into 2, you will find that ∠P = 90 which leaves ∠PAB and ∠PBA, we know that sum of angles in a triangle = 180. So,

90 + ∠PAB + ∠PBA= 180

=> ∠APAB + ∠PBA= 180 - 90

=> ∠PAB + ∠PBA= 90

We also know that ∠PAB and ∠PBAare equal because it is a square, so,

∠PAB = 90/2 = 45

∠PBA= 90/2 = 45

Therefore, x = 45

As the rectangle was divided into 2 equal squares, we find that ΔPAB = ΔAQC, so, ∠PBA = ∠QCA

We can find out that y  = 90 - 45 (Complementary angles)

Therefore y = 45
