vertex form of equation for a parabola: y=A(x-h)^2+k, (h,k)=coordinates of vertex
solving for A:
-3=A(0-1)^2+1
A=-4
equation: y=-4(x-1)^2+1

x-intercepts
set y=0
-4(x-1)^2+1=0
(x-1)^2=1/4
x-1=±√(1/4)=±1/2
x=1±1/2
x-intercepts:
x=1/2
x=3/2
