 \sf 2 {x}^{2}   + 7x - 4 = 0

 \sf \implies 2 {x}^{2}  - x + 8x - 4 = 0

 \sf \implies x(2x - 1) + 4(2x - 1)= 0

 \sf \implies (x + 4)(2x - 1)= 0

By zero product rule,

 \sf x + 4 = 0 \: or \: 2x - 1 = 0

Hence,

 \sf x =  - 4 \: or \: x =  \frac{1}{2}

Which is the required answer.
