The zeroes of quadratic polynomial x² - 2x - 3 are -1 and 3.

Given :

Quadratic polynomial : x² - 2x - 3

To find :

The zeroes of the given quadratic polynomial.

Solution:

Step1 of 2: Factorise the given quadratic polynomial by middle term splitting:

Let f(x) =  x² - 2x - 3

f(x) = x² - 3x + x - 3

f(x) = x ( x - 3) + 1 (x - 3)

f(x) = (x + 1) (x - 3)

Step 2 of 2:  Put f(x) = 0 to find the zeroes:

(x + 1) (x - 3) = 0

(x + 1) = 0   or   (x - 3) = 0

x = - 1  or  x = 3

Hence, the Zeroes of the quadratic polynomial x² - 2x - 3 is -1 and 3.
