Question :-

  • Find the zero polynomial of p(x) =x²+x-2.

Solution :-

Let p(x) =0

Hence,

x {}^{2}  + x - 2 = 0 \\  \\

Factorise by splitting middle term

x {}^{2}  + 2x - x - 2 = 0 \\  \\ x(x + 2) - 1(x + 2) = 0 \\  \\ (x + 2)(x - 1) = 0

Now split it into possible cases

(x + 2) = 0 \\  \\  \\ (x - 1) = 0

Hence,

x_1 = ( - 2) \\  \\ x_2 =( 1)

Extra information :-

  • A quadratic polynomial or quadratic is a polynomial of degree two, also called second-order polynomial.
