Find the zeroes of the quadratic equation. Use the relations alga+beta and alfa*beta.
1.) x^2-2x-8. -(1)
Factors are (x-4)(x+2)
x=4 or -2.
Now, -b/a= 2 and c/a=-8
Let, alfa be 4 and beta be -2.
Alfa+beta= 4+(-2)
=2
And alfa*beta= (4)*(-2)
=-8.
Hence verified.

Do the other with the same method.
Hope it helps.
