Solution :
Given Quadratic polynomial :
- x² - x - 6
›› x² - x - 6 = 0
›› x² - 3x + 2x - 6
›› x(x - 3) + 2(x - 3)
›› (x + 2 )(x - 3)
- x = -2 or x = 3
Verification :-
α + β = -2 + 3
α + β = 1 .....1)
αβ = -2 × 3
αβ = -6 .....2)
Let α and β are the zeroes of Quadratic polynomial.
x² - x - 6
- a = 1
- b = - 1
- c = -6
Sum of Zeroes = -b/a
α + β = -(-1)/1
Substituting value of α + β from 1)
1 = 1
Product of zeroes = c/a
αβ = -6/1
Substituting value of αβ from 2)
-6 = -6
LHS = RHS
Hence Relationship is Verified
