Answer:Answer. Heya !!! 4 and -2 are the two zeroes of the polynomial X²-2X-8. ... Sum of zeroes = Alpha + Beta = 4 + (-2) = 4-2 = 2/1 = Coefficient of X/Coefficient of X².

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

P(x)=x^{2} -2x-8\\

Let p(x) = 0

Then,

x^{2} -2x-8=0

x^{2} -4x+2x-8=0    [ on factorizing ]

x(x-4)+2(x-4)=0\\

(x-4) (x+2)=0\\

x-4=0 and x+2=0

∴ x = 4 and x = -2

 so,α=4 and β= -2

x^{2} -2x-8=0

It is in the form of  ax^{2} + bx+c=0 \\ where a=1, b= -2, c= -8

We know that,

α+β = -b/a        and         αβ = c/a

4-2 = -(-2)/1       and        4(-2) = -8/1

2 =2                  and          -8 = -8

               Hence Verified.
