p(x) = {x}^{2} - x - 42 \\ p( - 1) = { - 1}^{2} - ( - 1) - 42 \\ = 1 + 1 + 42 = 44 \\ \\ so \: x \: is \: not \: equal \: to \: ( - 1) \\ \\ p(1) = {1}^{2} - 1 - 42 \\ = - 42 \\ \\ so \: x \: is \: not \: equal \: to \: 1 \\ \\ p( - 2) = {( - 2)}^{2} - 2 - 42 \\ = - 40 \\ ...............continue \: until \: you \: get \\ \: the \: whole \: term \: as \: zero
