Answer :-

→ x² - 2x - 8 = 0

→ x² - 4x + 2x - 8 = 0

→ x(x - 4) + 2(x - 4) = 0

→ (x - 4)(x + 2) = 0

→ x = 4 or (-2) .

now,

→ sum of roots = (-b/a)

→ 4 + (-2) = -(-2)/1

→ 4 - 2 = 2/1

→ 2 = 2 (verify)

and,

→ Product of roots = c/a

→ 4 * (-2) = (-8/1)

→ (-8) = (-8) (verify)
