The zeros of the quadratic polynomial p(x) = (x - 4) (x + 5) is - 5 and 4

Given :

The quadratic polynomial p(x) = (x - 4) (x + 5)

To find :

The zeroes of the quadratic polynomial

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Write down the given polynomial

Here the given polynomial is

p(x) = (x - 4) (x + 5)

Step 2 of 2 :

Find zeros of the quadratic polynomial

For zeroes of the quadratic polynomial we have

p(x) = 0

⇒ (x - 4) (x + 5) = 0

⇒ x - 4 = 0 or x + 5 = 0

x - 4 = 0 gives x = 4

x + 5 = 0 gives x = - 5

Hence zeros of the quadratic polynomial p(x) = (x - 4) (x + 5) is - 5 and 4
