Finding the zeroes:

The given polynomial is

f (x) = 2x² + 7/2 * x + 3/4

= (8x² + 14x + 3)/4

= (8x² + 14x + 3)/4

= {8x² + (12 + 2) x + 3}/4

= {8x² + 12x + 2x + 3}/4

= {4x (2x + 3) + 1 (2x + 3)}/4

= 1/4 * (2x + 3) (4x + 1)

So we can conclude that the zeroes are - 3/2 and - 1/4.

Verification:

The polynomial is f (x) = 2x² + 7/2 * x + 3/4

If p and q be the zeroes, we write:

  • p + q = - (7/2)/2 = - 7/4
  • pq = (3/4)/2 = 3/8

We have found the zeroes already:

  • sum = - 3/2 - 1/4 = - 7/4
  • product = (- 3/2) * (- 1/4) = 3/8

Thus verified.
