ANSWER:

  • Zeroes are (-2) and (-5)

GIVEN:

  • P(x) = x²+7x+10

TO FIND:

  • Zeroes of the given polynomial.

SOLUTION:

=> x²+7x+10 = 0

=> x²+5x+2x+10 = 0

=> (x²+5x)+(2x+10) = 0

=> x(x+5)+2(x+5) = 0

=> (x+5)(x+2) = 0

Either (x+5) = 0

=> x = (-5)

Either (x+2) = 0

=> x = (-2)

Verification:

P(x) = x²+7x+10

Putting x =(-5)

=> P(-5) = (-5)²+7(-5)+10

=> P(-5) = 25-35+10

=> P(-5) = 0

Putting x = (-2)

=> P(-2) = (-2)²+7(-2)+10

=> P(-2) = 4-14+10

=> P(-2) = 0

NOTE:

some important formulas:

(a+b)(a-b) = a²-b²

(a+b)³ = a³+b³+3ab(a+b)

(a-b)³ = a³-b³-3ab(a-b)

a³+b³ = (a+b)(a²+b²-ab)

a³-b³ = (a-b)(a²+b²+ab)
