Given

Find the zeros of the polynomial x²- 25

Solution

→ x² - 25 = 0

Applying identity : a² - b² = (a + b)(a - b)

→ (x)² - (5)² = 0

→ (x + 5)(x - 5) = 0

Either

(x + 5) = 0

→ x = -5

Or

(x - 5) = 0

→ x = 5

Hence, -5 and 5 are the zeros of given

polynomial

Some identities

  • (a + b)² = a² + b² + 2ab
  • (a - b)² = a² + b² - 2ab
  • a³ - b³ = (a - b)(a² + ab + b²)
  • a³ + b³ = (a + b)(a² - ab + b²

Answer:

zeroes are 5 and -5. Hence, the zeroes of the polynomial x2 - 25 are x + 5 = 0 , x - 5 = 0, i.e., x = - 5 , x = 5
